Tyranny creeps into our national life on padded cat's paws, easily visible on each excursion to those who pay heed. Over decades it has delicately pranced over and around our Founders' Constitution in all areas of government in ways that we, the people, have empowered by our inattention. The pace of tyranny's arrival has accelerated in recent years, with our history's prior precedents ignored. Each branch of government has spread its authority over us without our conscious consent. The Constitution had its faults; its benign neglect of slavery and enfranchisement of all are two of the most notable. However, these have been corrected towards that more perfect union by the blood and the voice of our ultimate Founders who retain all rights and delegate all powers, the people. Their voice need be heard again.
The Executive branch, our Presidency, has always been recognized as the greatest danger to our Constitutional republic. After our war of independence many sought to name George Washington monarch. The Founders, well-schooled in the history of tyranny in the ancient world as well as Britain, wisely disposed of this and established, after the failed experiment of joining together as nation-states in the Articles of Confederation, an Executive of one, rather than a considered committee, elected by the populace for a fixed term. This office was to "execute" the will of the people as established through their elected Congress. The Legislative branch was intended, as detailed in the Constitution, and argued in the Federalist Papers, to be the pre-eminent power over the executive and judicial, granted very limited powers by the people. Yet that Presidency evolved into its own independent powers via "emergencies" that Congress could not or would address. Lincoln suspended Habeas Corpus during the Civil War. Prior Presidents had expanded by purchase and war the territory of the United States, with Congress affirming afterwards. Andrew Jackson forced through the Indian Removal Act, destroying what remained of indigenous people’s cultures. Rutherford B. Hayes abandoned all attempts to enforce federal civil rights law, both the Constitutional Amendments and the Civil Rights law of 1875 in the South, to obtain and maintain his office. Franklin D. Roosevelt used the emergency of war to issue Executive Order 9066, sending hundreds of thousands of Americans of Japanese descent to concentration camps. Barack Obama independently overcame immigration law by declaring DACA, removing an ever-enlarging group of non-citizens from the legal processes applicable to American citizens and legally enrolled immigrants. Donald Trump diverted Congressional funding for the Defense Department to Homeland Security for sophisticated guarding of our borders. Joe Biden competes with Woodrow Wilson and Franklin Roosevelt for the most and most pervasive Executive Orders, decrees of personal power with no affirmation by the Constitution or the people, using the Covid pandemic as a limitless excuse to circumscribe Constitutionally recognized unalienable rights. He has taken Congress' sole authority over government spending by unilaterally forgiving billions in student debt; this is essentially a "gift” of billions in principal and interest to those student debtors to be funded by the people whose representatives did not legislate this expense. We as a people have slowly and silently abdicated the "station to which the Laws of Nature and Nature's God entitle" us.
The Supreme Court, intended to limit and balance the unenumerated powers of the Executive and Legislative branches as strictured in the Constitution on behalf of the people, has a long history of remaking itself as an unelected second legislative body. Some of the most famous of these "laws" newly discovered by the Court within the Constitution's crystal-clear language include the Dred Scott decision, the overturning of the 1875 Civil Rights law, and Plessy v. Ferguson, just within the first century of its existence. Our most recent Supreme Court may have finally discovered that the Founders meant what they wrote and what the States affirmed, that Federal powers are strictly limited to those enumerated, all other powers belonging to the States as granted from and allowed by the people. Contrary to popular usage, States have no rights, only powers; people are endowed with rights by their very creation. The main function of government is to defend and enforce those rights using only the powers temporarily granted to them by the people (remember Prohibition?).
Our fourth and possibly most abusive level of government was not even contemplated by the Founders. Government bureaucracy, like the Executive branch, exists to enforce and administer the laws passed by Congress. Constant Congressional and Executive overreach, disregarded by the Court, has encouraged this new branch to expand its non-enumerated powers via new laws called regulations that metastasize throughout every detailed aspect of our lives. Bureaucracies never shrivel, always thrive, and grow; they can only be radically excised. There is no willing surgeon in our midst.
One of these bureaucratic fiefdoms, the healthcare industrial complex of the NIH/FDA/CDC, has, with the benign neglect of the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches, become naked in its authoritarianism. The Covid pandemic from a virus that may have been created with funding violating their own regulations became the perfect excuse to go beyond Lincoln and Roosevelt. They only dealt with military war within the country and within the world. This new enemy struck all innocents globally. Cities, counties, states, and our nation were turned virtually overnight into a giant concentration camp of the quarantined. Civil liberties were completely abandoned by a population made fearful and compliant by bureaucratic misinformation amplified by law, executive fiat, and media hysteria. As is now known, government and our healthcare bureaucracy suppressed true scientific discussion aided by media both social and mainstream in censorship well beyond that practiced in the Civil War, WW I, or WW II. Restrictions such as masking, and distancing were enforced despite clear evidence they were ineffective. The rights of religious practice and public assembly were suspended arbitrarily. Public education, gradually failing for decades, was effectively ended for an unknown duration. A forced vaccination program, using a minimally tested new type of genetic induction never before used or evaluated, was begun without any studies clarifying safety and efficacy. Protection from serious illness, death, and transmission of the virus to others was to be taken on faith. Minimal effort was given to seeking actual active treatments for those already infected. Despite strong epidemiological, empirical, and observational evidence to the contrary, all were to be vaccinated, not just those known to be at significant risk of serious illness or death.
Now in the final victory over personal bodily autonomy and parental authority the CDC has ruled that Covid vaccination will be required for all small children to attend public school. This despite prior knowledge from our country and more effective health care systems in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, and others that very young children and even those through teen years, in the absence of chronic illness or frailty, rarely become seriously ill or die of Covid, and are mostly already superiorly immune to the virus from prior minimally symptomatic or asymptomatic infection. As detailed by Alex Berenson in his Substack column ‘Unreported Truths’, German researchers found that young children are significantly more likely to have severe side effects from Covid vaccine than classic vaccines. In that study 1 out of 780 required hospitalization. Moderna found 24 out of 4800 children suffered a serious adverse event; especially the very young where 15 of 1800 children had such an event. Meanwhile, he notes that of 1500 American children supposedly dying from Covid since 2020 only 65% of those cases, on review by the CDC, had any plausible connection to Covid. Under age 12 deaths happened to children with extremely serious comorbidities. Moderna has reported that a 1-year-old female developed Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus with life threatening ketoacidosis about a month post second dose; normally this happens in 1 in 15,000 children. Case reports from Japan and elsewhere have linked the vaccine to Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus in adults. Parental informed consent will not matter, except in those states that successfully resist federal bureaucratic supremacy.
While we are all distracted with a pandemic that is over for some authoritarian purposes but not for others, our government seeks fascist control of our energy economy by artificially pricing fossil fuels to be more expensive than unavailable green energy sources. Given our proven domestic energy resources and the lack of market driven innovation to incrementally introduce green energy as a gradual replacement, this is an incredibly bald-faced usurpation of the basis of our economy and way of life.
Totalitarianism arrives with a whisper, not a scream.
