In my opinion it’s best not to have one What others have to say is more interesting than the sound of one’s own voice. If you say nothing but only answer others you avoid wasting time, effort, and opinion. The best function of your own speech is to ask questions that open others to you. Silence begets writing; writing begets exactitude. Silence is the savior of self. Silence allows observation without interference-defying Einstein’s rule. Silence enables the avoidance of discovery. Silence reveals the noise of the universe. Silence conceals preferences. Silence is one half of an efficient conversation. Silence enhances the impact of speech. Silence allows you to recognize your limits. Silence engages observation. Silence is the ultimate shield that deflects all.
Silence always at a premium in Acute medical situations, family life, and especially public discourse. Currently visiting friends in Park City Utah suffering the wonderful silence of snowfall. Hopefully you all are having a wonderful life in the non-demented state of North Carolina.
I like silence, since it helps me hear my thoughts better.

The view on silence reminds me of what my father would say. “You never learn anything when you are talking”
And I thought my dad was just trying to get me to shut up! Live and learn.
